2017 Conference – Communicating for our Common Home

‘I urgently appeal for a new dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet. We need a conversation which includes everyone, since the environmental challenge we are undergoing and its human roots, concern and affect us all … We require a new and universal solidarity … All of us can cooperate as instruments of God for the care of creation, each according to his or her own culture, experience, involvement and talents.’ Pope Francis ‘Laudato Si’ par 14.

Our conference in Aotearoa New Zealand and theme, Communicating for Our Common Home, will engage us in conversation around the issues, challenges, connections, resources and methods that will inform and encourage us as professional communicators in the Catholic Church. As well as enjoying the Auckland environment, delegates will visit a boutique brewery and a coastal gannet colony.

Judge Claire Ryan, scripture scholar, astronomy enthusiast, debating coach and woman of wit and wisdom, will entertain us at the conference dinner and awards evening.

The conference programme features media professionals, environment and social justice advocates and experts in the field of communications, as well as a visit to the Pompallier Diocesan Centre.

Venue: Rydges Hotel Auckland, New Zealand

Dates: August 23 to August 25, 2017
